Where is Niseko?
Niseko is a town on Japan’s northern Hokkaido Island. It is the second snowiest ski resort in the world, known for its pristine powdery ski runs. Niseko encompasses 6 ski resort areas (in order of size): Hirafu, Niseko Village (or Higashiyama – where Koa Niseko is located), Annupuri, Hanazono, Moiwa, and Weiss.
How do I get to Niseko?
Getting to Niseko is easy – the most common way is via Sapporo - Hokkaido’s largest city. Niseko is a two-hour drive from New Chitose Airport, an international airport located just outside of Sapporo, with flights arriving from around Asia. Visitors can also catch a domestic flight to Sapporo from Tokyo via Narita International Airport or Haneda Airport.
Is there a high-speed bullet train connection to Niseko?
The shinkansen, or high-speed bullet train, currently connects Tokyo to Hakodate, a port city in south-west Hokkaido. The route will be further extended to Sapporo, stopping in Kutchan (the closest station to Niseko) by 2030 , opening up an ultra-fast route from Tokyo to Niseko.
Where is Higashiyama?
Higashiyama, or “East Mountain”, is one of six resort villages that make up Niseko. It is now more commonly known as Niseko Village, and includes multiple international hotel properties such as the Hilton Hotel, Ritz-Carlton Reserve, W Hotel (Planned), and Green Leaf Hotel, along with a collection of charming local dining and entertainment experiences like Milk Kobo and The House of Machines. Collectively speaking, Higashiyama is both the second largest resort area behind Grand Hirafu Resort, and the fastest growing one too.
How far is Koa Niseko from the ski lifts?
Koa Niseko is an 8-minute walk or a 2-minute drive to the nearest ski lift in Niseko Village, which in turn connects seamlessly to the wider Niseko United network of 29 lifts across Hirafu, Annupuri, and Hanazono.
